It is possible for most patio awnings to be changed from manual gear operation to motorised operation via an integral tubular motor and hand held / wall mounted transmitter. Depending on the awning system will depend on the level of work that needs to be carried out in order to make this change. Some awning systems will require the fabric and fabric rollertube to be reduced in width as the motor head is larger than the gear box it is replacing. This is usually the case for end fix awnings, where the awning is built round a static end block. Multi fix awnings, where the awning is built round a back bar of some description, the components holding the rollertube (rollertube support bracket) can be moved along to allow for the slightly larger motor head to fit in without having to have the rollertube or fabric reduced in width.
